Being new to the industry in early 2008, IIT, headquartered in Melbourne decided to use the internet as their main means of marketing. Binary Elements started to design their web site from scratch to portray the correct information but also to ensure the correct theme and keywords were utilized on each page.

Each page was required to be indexed by the search engines correctly and therefore when the site was created, a great deal of attention to detail and a lot of time was spent ensuring ALT tags and image names were done up correctly for the correct keywords.

Then we started off doing the SEO activities for the keyword 'rg146' and 'ps146' as per what the consumer was looking for. After one month, we noticed some movement on the google ladder. We noticed it on the 5th page of google and the 3rd/4th pages of Yahoo for the keywords. Though the results were not great, it was a good success to see that multiple pages were already indexed in the search engines for a site which had a new domain name and nothing indexed on search engines then.

There was a gradual climb in the second month. We could see it moving but not as fast. Depending on the keywords used, it typically would take a good 2-3 months for the results to show up.

After the 3rd month, the success was clear. IIT was on the first page of google and yahoo for the keywords 'rg146' and 'ps146' and from Google Analytics, we could see that there was a big move from a non-search engine based traffic to a search engine based traffic. (See pie chart above)

We've embarked in doing other keyword optimisation such as 'diploma of financial planning' as well and have achieved 2nd page ranking. Still some work to do there but it looks like the formula is working.

The bottom line: Consumers who search on the search engines and see IIT's branding in the first page of the search results provided consumer confidence in the business and brought natural click thrus to the web site.

Case Study : Tsumiki Design - Strategic launching of new products

Tsumiki Design wanted to utilize the web to market their launching of their hair straightening service. Normal means through the printed magazines yielded little results so far.

The web site was designed to be in English and Japanese to cater to both communities. optimisation was on the keyword 'japanese hair salon melbourne' and 'japanese hair straightening melbourne'. Japanese hair straightening articles were written as well which were optimized to the particular keywords.

The entire process took 2 months of good effort to SEO the pages with the end result, their web site on the first page of the search results for google and ranking no.1 in Yahoo. Though not number 1 in google, they see the value of being on the first page itself. They are currently considering whether to put in the extra effort to get to 1st or 2nd in google results to further their optimisation efforts.
